Twin Falls Boat Shuttle Commences Operation

Greg Hunt MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for the Environment and Heritage, Dave Tollner MP, Federal Member for Solomon and Senator Nigel Scullion, Senator for the Northern Territory, today announced that the Twin Falls Gorge guided boat shuttle will start operating this Monday 30 May 2005.

“Last year more than 22,000 visitors enjoyed this popular boat trip and visitor comments have been overwhelmingly positive,” Mr Hunt said.

“The Bininj cultural guides will again be a feature of the shuttle, giving visitors the opportunity to talk to Aboriginal guides and share in their traditional knowledge of the landscapes and wildlife.

“My thanks to Dave Tollner and Nigel Scullion who have both worked with the tourism industry to promote Kakadu and the many experiences available to all visitors, particularly Territorians.”

Dave Tollner said pontoons and a floating walking were recently installed for Twin Falls.

“This was a huge logistical project involving a helicopter to get the pontoons in place for the floating walkway and all went to plan,” Mr Tollner said.

“Twin Falls is always a popular site for visitors. Last year more than 4,500 visitors used the new walking track to the top of the Falls where they can swim safely, ” Senator Scullion said.

Tickets for the Twin Falls Gorge boat shuttle can be purchased from: Bowali Visitors Centre, Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn, Gagudju Lodge Cooinda, Mardugal Campground, Garnamarr Campground and from Tourism Top End Visitor Information Centre in Darwin.
