Power Pole Posters Cause Chaos In Alice Springs

The Labor Party has ignored a directive from the Electoral Commission and PowerWater banning placing election posters on power poles and street lights in Alice Springs, says the Territory Opposition.

"Labor placed candidate posters on PowerWater assets knowing that they were not allowed to do so,” says Jodeen Carney, Leader of the Opposition.

"The Labor Party is deliberately flouting the law in an attempt to secure an electoral advantage.

"This brazen disregard for the law sends the worst possible message to the young people of Alice Springs.

"It says there's one rule for the Labor Party, another for everyone else in Alice Springs.

"Law and order problems are bad enough in Alice Springs without Labor adding to them.

"The Labor Party's arrogance will result in PowerWater teams being diverted from their core functions of fixing power and water problems in Alice Springs.

"Clare Martin must step in immediately and direct that the posters be removed and apologise to the people of Alice Springs.”
