New Direction New Vision for Darwin Harbour

The Labor Government’s gung-ho approach to planning in and around Darwin Habour will come under scrutiny at a public meeting this evening.

"I’ll be one of a number of speakers looking to set a new direction and find a new vision for Darwin Harbour," says Opposition Leader Terry Mills.

"All Territorians are concerned about the social, economic and environmental factors that shape future devleopment in the harbour.

"My concern is about getting the balance right in meeting the needs of all the competing interests.

"I’m hoping tonight’s meeting will be the first step in the journey towards getting all the key stakeholders to the table.

"As Darwin’s greatest natural asset, it’s important all Territorians have a role to play in planning for the harbour’s future.

"Events like this one and the one organised by the Chamber of Commerce last week are further evidence of the underlying concern in our community that long term strategic planning has been neglected. It is time for new, fresh action.

"The meeting will take place at the Stokes Hill wharf function room from 5.30pm."

The CLP will do much better when they're in power, you'll see, yadda yadda ... The only certainty in this is that all NT governments of all persuasions will continue to ignore Central Australia completely.
