Kakadu And Uluru Voted Holiday Of A Lifetime

Greg Hunt MP, Parliamentary Secretary with ministerial responsibility for Kakadu and Uluru National Park, David Tollner MP, Member for Solomon and Senator Nigel Scullion, Senator for the Northern Territory today welcomed the results of Australian Traveller Magazine’s survey that voted Kakadu and Uluru National Park, managed by the Australian Government, as the number one and number four holiday destinations to visit before you die.

The result of the magazine survey comes on the back of an Australian Government investment of around $1.77 million to upgrade Kakadu National Park and encourage visitors to the Park.

“We are extremely pleased to see the public agrees with us that Kakadu and Uluru are two of the top four places in Australia to visit,” Mr Hunt said.

“We have spent or will be spending around $3.77 million on upgrading visitor facilities in Kakadu and almost half a million dollars at Uluru.”

Federal Member for Solomon, David Tollner MP said the results of the survey reinforced what every Territorian already knew.

“Kakadu beats Sydney Harbour and Ningaloo Reef hands down and results such as these are really exciting for the Top End. They show Australians are becoming more adventurous in choosing their holiday destinations – which can only be a benefit to the Territory.”

Senator for the Northern Territory, Nigel Scullion echoed Mr Tollner’s comments.

“These results will no doubt stir the pride of every Territorian – it’s great to see other Australians overwhelmingly endorsing the sheer natural beauty of Kakadu and Uluru.

And the two Territorian pollies joined together to add a final comment on the results:

“We of course, believe everyone should travel to the Territory at least once before they die and this just lets us know that we were right all along,”
