Henderson Government Anniversary

The first anniversary of the Henderson Government marks a Government in crisis as a result of its disastrous management of housing, health, education, power and crime.

“The Chief Minister arrogantly went to the polls a year early promising Territorians certainty; in fact it’s been a lost year,” says Kezia Purick, Deputy Opposition Leader.

“The only certainty Territorians have is that Paul Henderson’s incompetent Government has consistently failed to deliver on its promises.

“The Henderson Government’s failure to build a single home in 2 years under the $672 million SIHIP program is a complete disgrace.

“The fact Darwin is the most expensive capital city in which to rent a home is a direct result of Labor’s abject failure to release enough land for residential development.

“Outrageous waiting times in Emergency Departments and on elective surgery waiting lists characterise a heath system that is floundering.

“Taking $80 million in dividends from PowerWater resulted in massive power blackouts and a 25% increase in the price of electricity and 70% in the price of water.

“The only certainties under Labor are massive debt and increased taxes in the future.

“Since snatching the leadership from Clare Martin, Paul Henderson has lost 3 ministers and formed 8 different ministries.

“Territorians deserve better. Labor and the Chief Minister are arrogant, out of touch and only interested in clinging onto political power.”
